In 2004, after reaching the company’s tenth anniversary, Molly Shanahan / Mad Shak began to shift the company’s paradigm to incorporate extended creative processes that allow Shanahan and collaborating artists to delve deeper into the creation of new work and for the organization to enhance public engagement throughout the life cycle of projects.
The company encourages Shanahan and collaborating artists to embark on in-depth investigations, to risk moving into unknown creative territory, and to engage with subject matter in the most unguarded manner possible. Projects can take anywhere from a few months to a few years to fully mature. Molly Shanahan / Mad Shak believe that access to creative process inspires people working in any field, artistic or otherwise.
